CHU's partnership with the Asia Pacific Institute of Events Management (APIEM) has reached its tenth anniversary. This year, the university welcomed its first-ever exchange visit from Lyceum of the Philippines University, Laguna Campus (LPU-L). In addition to a customized Mandarin language program and immersive bilingual teaching sessions led by a British instructor from the EMI Bilingual Center with both Taiwanese and Filipino students, the visiting delegation also experienced silk-screen printing at the USR Camellia venue and learned about the camellia culture promoted by CHU. Distinguished alumnus Chairman Tsung-min Yeh specially arranged a DIY Hsinchu meatball and rice noodle experience at the "Jin Yi Pork Ball Cultural Hall," giving the delegation a vivid taste of Taiwan's blend of bilingual education, culinary culture, and technological innovation.
LPU-L student Reena, visiting Taiwan for the first time, shared: "When I first heard about Taiwan, I already felt it was a place worth visiting. After this trip, I found Taiwan to be both advanced and vibrant. We visited many famous attractions, museums, and science parks — all very impressive. My favorite activity was hand-printing a canvas bag in the camellia garden. It was so much fun and a wonderful keepsake."
Dean of the College of Tourism, Hsin-wen Chang, noted that CHU has been a founding member of APIEM since 2016, and over the past decade has successfully built a network connecting Asia-Pacific tourism and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) education. APIEM President Professor David Hind serves as an adjunct distinguished professor at the university, supporting international linkages among member institutions. Each semester, he delivers lectures to both master's and bachelor's students in the College of Tourism, as well as students enrolled in the dual-degree program in International Tourism and Hotel Management, keeping students informed of global trends in the tourism and events industry. Many sister schools across the Asia-Pacific region are eager to visit Taiwan for exchanges. Thanks to its diverse international environment and the College of Tourism's implementation of the MOE's Bilingual Program, CHU has successfully attracted students from Belize, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Haiti, Jordan, and other countries, creating a richly multicultural learning community.
Dean Chang further explained that, in addition to continuing to host overseas visiting delegations, CHU actively encourages its own students to visit sister schools in Japan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Jordan, and other countries. She stated: "Many schools that visit us express a desire for a return visit, and two-way exchanges will continue to expand, giving students opportunities to participate in overseas study programs during the summer and other periods, broadening their global perspectives."
Through deepening collaboration with international sister schools and offering cross-cultural courses and career experience activities, CHU will continue to build a globally connected learning platform — nurturing students with international competence, professional expertise, and cross-disciplinary integration skills, empowering the next generation to shine on the world stage.
