To help international students feel the warmth and care of the campus upon their arrival in Taiwan, the International Campus of CHU recently held a "New Student Fellowship Activity." Through diverse activities including singing, learning Chinese, interactive games, lantern crafting, and food sharing, the event created a cultural exchange feast full of human warmth. The activity not only promoted mutual acquaintance and friendship among students but also helped new students establish a sense of belonging. For Vietnamese students who had just arrived in Taiwan, it was particularly an important experience in alleviating homesickness and integrating into campus life.
The event atmosphere was lively, with two Chinese language teachers and an Indonesian student from the Department of Tourism, Wen-Sen Lin, singing Chinese songs together. The melodious melodies attracted many foreign students to stop and listen. Although languages differed, the music and joyful atmosphere transcended cultural barriers. The subsequent interactive games were cleverly designed, allowing students to cooperate and exchange through laughter, increasing mutual familiarity. The DIY lantern crafting activity was one of the highlights, where students handmade lanterns, experiencing the spirit of "reunion and sharing," and made wishes for their families as the lanterns were lit—a touching and heartwarming scene.
Amy Chuang, Director of Student Affairs for the International Preparatory Program at CHU, encouraged everyone to maintain curiosity and a positive attitude during their studies abroad, actively participate in courses and campus activities, and make good use of school resources to ensure both learning and life are fulfilling and meaningful. At the end of the activity, everyone enjoyed egg yolk pastries, pomelos, and pomelo tea together, experiencing the taste of reunion through food.
The International Campus of CHU hopes that through this new student fellowship activity, international students will establish deep friendships through cultural exchange, feel the warmth and care of the campus, and deepen their understanding and identification with Taiwanese culture, transforming these early memories into the warmest page of their journey studying abroad.
