[Nov 04th 2025] Enthusiastic Welcome at CHU's International Student Orientation
2025-11-04 │ Secretariat’s Office
CHU warmly welcomes a record-breaking 528 new international preparatory program students from Vietnam and Indonesia, marking an all-time high. The new student orientation not only helps international students familiarize themselves with the campus environment and living resources, but also demonstrates CHU's comprehensive care and commitment to students through cultural performances and legal guidance.
Vice President and International Dean Hung-Nien Hsieh stated that international students, upon first arriving in Taiwan and facing language and cultural challenges, should prioritize their studies and cherish their learning opportunities at CHU. He encouraged students to master Chinese, comply with campus regulations, and strike a balance between life and studies to build a solid foundation for their future. He also emphasized that CHU is located in Hsinchu City, which has abundant industry resources and a favorable employment environment. With diligent study, graduates will have more opportunities to realize their ideals and goals.
The International Campus specially invited the Vietnamese performance group "Hồn Quê" (Soul of Hometown) from the "Taoyuan Southeast Asian Arts, Culture, Education Innovation and Research Association" to deliver a spectacular performance. Led by Chairperson Mei-Hsing Fan, the group is composed of new immigrants and their second generation, vividly presenting hometown stories through dance and music. This not only helped international students feel the warmth of home but also allowed faculty and students to experience the charm of Southeast Asian culture, promoting cross-cultural understanding and exchange.
The orientation covered practical information including campus life, dormitory management, and academic regulations. The Hsinchu City Police Department, Immigration Agency, and Department of Labor and Youth Affairs were invited to provide guidance on anti-fraud measures and information security under Taiwan's laws. CHU security officers also provided education on the smoke-free campus and traffic safety, helping students integrate into life in Taiwan with peace of mind. The Student Affairs and Academic Affairs divisions of the International Preparatory Program provided detailed explanations of school regulations and learning resources to help new students smoothly begin their university journey.
CHU is committed to creating a friendly and diverse learning environment, providing comprehensive learning resources, life counseling, and cultural exchange activities. The university values cross-cultural interaction and adaptation, ensuring every international student receives comprehensive support in both learning and daily life, establishing a solid foundation for their university experience and a path toward a broader future.
