2025-08-03 │ Secretariat Office CHU has performed exceptionally well in the 2025 University Impact Rankings by Times Higher Education (THE), ranking 16th among Taiwan's private institutions, 37th nationally, and 801+ globally—a significant improvement from last year. This demonstrates that the university's long-term investment in sustainable development and social impact has translated into substantial results with international visibility.

CHU President Victor Liu stated that this comprehensive improvement in THE rankings is the result of the entire university community's joint efforts in sustainability practices. Particularly notable is SDG 16's advancement into the global top 100, showing that our efforts in campus governance, information transparency, and public participation have gained international recognition. President Liu emphasized that the university will continue to expand the social impact of teaching, research, and services, deepen cross-sector cooperation, and strengthen connections with the international community, continuing to promote substantial integration between higher education and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Among the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, CHU's most remarkable achievement is "SDG 16 Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions" entering the global top 100, ranking 96th. This represents the most significant improvement in this ranking, jumping four tiers and demonstrating the university's deep cultivation in information disclosure, integrity governance, and democratic participation. Meanwhile, "SDG 6 Clean Water and Sanitation" also ranks in the global 101-200 range, showing that the university has reached international standards in water resource management and sustainable environmental education. "SDG 12 Responsible Consumption and Production" entered the global 301-400 range, highlighting the increasingly mature implementation effects of the "Carbon Neutrality Target Declaration" signed by the university in 2023. As for "SDG 17 Partnerships for the Goals," it significantly jumped to the global 601-800 range, indicating that the university's promotion of international cooperation and sustainable connections has gained global recognition.

Starting in 2025, THE rankings adopted a completely new evaluation mechanism. In addition to using individual SDG performance as the basis for overall scoring, AI automatic review technology was introduced for the first time to comprehensively examine the accuracy and credibility of each university's submitted data. During the review process, CHU was not required to provide supplementary materials or corrections, demonstrating high report quality, complete data, and internationally recognized overall planning and implementation results.

CHU has incorporated the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals into university governance, teaching and research, and social responsibility practices. Through cross-college integration and community cooperation, the university actively practices university social responsibility and continues to promote diverse action plans including interdisciplinary courses, community co-learning, and industry connections, fulfilling the university's role as a sustainable innovation platform and building a university learning environment with global vision and local responsibility.
