[March 31th 2025] CHU’s International Students from Vietnam Visit Wenchang Temple to Pray for Exam Success, Studying Chinese Diligently to Pursue Their Dream of Staying in Taiwan

2025-03-31│ Secretariat’s Office About 70 CHU’s Vietnamese students from International Foundation Program recently visited the historic and popular Wenlin Pavilion in Xionglin Township, Hsinchu County, to worship Emperor Wenchang and pray for success in their Chinese language exams so they can continue their university studies in Taiwan. They also took the opportunity to visit the nearby "Zhiliaowo Paper Workshop" to experience making bamboo fish dreamcatchers and learn about traditional Taiwanese culture.
The Director of Student Affairs for the International Foundation Program, Amy Chuang, explained that the primary task for foreign students in their first year in Taiwan is to pass the Chinese Language Proficiency Test A2 certification. Only by passing this exam can they enter departments to study professional courses. With major exams approaching, the Foundation Program has, for the third consecutive year, led Vietnamese students to temples to worship Emperor Wenchang, hoping to pray for good exam luck for the students. Additionally, to help students relax and relieve pressure before the exam, the International Garden also specially arranged for the "Zhiliaowo Paper Workshop" team to lead everyone in making bamboo fish dreamcatchers, experiencing the charm of Taiwan's "bamboo culture."

Vietnamese student Nguyen Thi Tuyet Trinh said she was happy that the school could arrange off-campus activities, allowing students to go outdoors and experience Taiwan's unique temple culture and customs. Since coming to Taiwan last year, she has been determined to study in the Tourism College Bachelor's program, with the food and beverage industry as her goal, hoping to find employment and earn money in Taiwan in the future. Therefore, she takes this Chinese language test very seriously, spending more than two hours every day studying Chinese, strengthening her weaker areas like listening and grammar. She also finds friends she has met in Taiwan to help her practice speaking. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Trinh pointed out that although she is separated from her family while studying in Taiwan, she greatly values CHU's excellent learning environment and resources, feeling that all her efforts are worthwhile!

After helping students obtain A2 certification and successfully enter their departments, the school will continue to plan for B1 Chinese language proficiency tests, encouraging students to take the exam and improve their Chinese language skills. In addition to academic arrangements, the International Foundation Program holds multiple outdoor cultural experience activities throughout the year, allowing foreign students to immerse themselves in Taiwanese culture and enhance peer relationships while studying!
