[July 19th 2024]Dong-A University from South Korea Visits CHU, Continuing a Decade-long Sister School Friendship!

During the summer vacation, the "Graduate School of International Studies" from Dong-A University in Busan, South Korea, brought 15 master's and doctoral students to visit CHU. Arranged by CHU, they toured areas such as the practice hotel and travel agency of the College of Tourism to understand related industry developments. Director Kim Sung-tae of Dong-A University stated that after multiple exchanges with the College of Tourism in the past, they plan to send graduate students to CHU for exchanges to broaden their horizons, continuing to deepen the sister school friendship of nearly a decade after the pandemic!
Dong-A University in South Korea has a 78-year history and is a prestigious university in the area along with Busan National University. Since signing a sister school agreement with CHU in 2015, they have engaged in close exchanges with the College of Tourism. Dean Hsin-wen Chang of the College of Tourism mentioned that over the past decade, the two schools have jointly promoted off-site teaching courses, international Korean creative culture exchange experiences, MOE-sponsored overseas exchange programs, and free short-term study abroad programs for freshmen. Nearly 50 students from the college have exchanged to Dong-A University for learning, yielding fruitful results! Unfortunately, the pandemic interrupted cooperation between the two schools. After the pandemic, Dong-A University's visit aims to facilitate the next cooperation, which both sides are looking forward to.

Director Kim Sung-tae of Dong-A University's "Graduate School of International Studies" expressed his pleasure in visiting CHU again. With frequent interactions between the two schools in the past, the main purpose of this visit is to promote exchange opportunities for their graduate students at CHU to broaden their horizons. Director Kim also mentioned that it has been six years since their 2018 visit to CHU, and the newly established facilities such as the AI+ Experience Center and Metaverse are quite impressive. It would be a great blessing for students to learn with such abundant resources in the future!
Visiting doctoral student Hu Ying believes that CHU's College of Tourism, owning its travel agency and practice hotel, creates internship venues similar to the workplace for students. Compared to Korean universities, it emphasizes not only theory but also the importance of internships, preventing employment gaps after graduation. She envies CHU students for being able to learn so efficiently and looks forward to the upcoming exchange!
