[Jun 25th 2024]51 Taiwanese Universities Make World University Rankings! CHU Ranks Alongside National Universities
The Times Higher Education (THE) has ranked universities based on 17 SDG indicators, measuring their contribution to global sustainable development. A total of 51 Taiwanese universities made the list. CHU ranks 21st among private institutions, with an overall global ranking of 1001+, tying for 43rd place in Taiwan alongside National United University and National Ilan University.

CHU was listed in 11 indicators this year, ranking 9th in Taiwan (401-600 globally) for "SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions," 19th in Taiwan (401-600 globally) for "SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production." Dr. Victor Liu, President of CHU states that CHU positions itself with a dual focus on quality teaching and industry-academia linkage, being the only private university in the Hsinchu-Miaoli area to obtain both AACSB and IEET international accreditations. CHU promotes campus internationalization, providing students with abundant learning resources to easily connect with the international community. In recent years, with the rapid development of the AI industry, CHU, being the closest private institution to Hsinchu Science Park, has long been closely integrated with the park's industries. Through internships and industry-academia collaborations, it helps students "take root in the park" and seamlessly enter the tech industry. As a result, CHU has made progress in the "SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure" indicator, ranking 401-600 globally.

Taking "SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production" as an example, CHU signed the "Carbon Neutrality Goal Declaration" last December, announcing that the campus will achieve complete carbon neutrality by 2040. In the 2023 UI GreenMetric World University Ranking, CHU improved by 111 places, entering the top 38%.
CHU actively aligns with the government's net-zero policy, promoting green, low-carbon sustainable campus development. It has established a "Sustainable Campus Office" to further promote sustainable campus governance, contributing to the goals under the Paris Agreement framework!
