Mr. Zhengze Lin, the founder of CHU, pointed out that CHU was planned 36 years ago to establish a private university mainly focused on business and industry in Hsinchu. After soliciting opinions from all parties, it immediately received strong support from various circles in Hsinchu. Fifteen founding directors contributed money and effort, and after 17 meetings, CHU was finally established. Mr. Lin also sang the names of those who helped with CHU's founding and expressed his gratitude. Mr. Lin said that the 15 stars on CHU emblem, represent the 15 founding directors of CHU.

Mr. Lin also emotionally recounted a story of purchasing land to build CHU 36 years ago. He pointed out that 34 plots of land in the Hsinchu and Miaoli area were available, and some were even free of charge, which the Board of Trustees was also very tempted by the offer. However, the former Hsinchu City Mayor, Mr. Fuyong Ren persuaded the school board that since all the 15 board members were from Hsinchu, CHU should be located in Hsinchu City. The Board of Trustees ultimately chose a 15-hectare plot of land in Chiaodong, Xiangshan District, Hsinchu City, and completed the land purchase within one day. It was the perseverance of the predecessors that made CHU a reality.

CHU President Victor Liu expressed three words of gratitude and three wishes to encourage all faculty and staff. President Liu also thanked the 15 CHU founders for their efforts in enabling CHU to operate successfully. He also thanked all faculty and staff for their hard work, dedicating their most valuable youth to CHU, and contributing to the continuous growth and development of CHU. President Liu further expressed his gratitude to the nearly 58,000 alumni nurtured by CHU in the past 33 years and excelled in various fields in society, bringing glory to CHU through their outstanding career performance.

President Liu used the university’s English abbreviation "CHU" to express three wishes for the university's future direction. He noted that "C" stands for "Career," and that the university's educational programs should be closely connected to students' career development, such as the employment-oriented programs currently offered by various departments. "H" stands for "Hub," and as the university is located adjacent to the Hsinchu Science Park, he hopes that the university can become a talent supply center for the Science Park, with which the future courses will be closely integrated. "U" stands for "University," and due to the declining birthrate in Taiwan, the university is actively recruiting international students and has established an International Studies Division. In the future, the university will adjust its curriculum to meet the needs of international students better, allowing them to stay and work in the Hsinchu Science Park after graduation.
