[July 28th, 2022]Chung Hua University signed a 3+1+1 double degree cooperation program agreement with the University of California, Irvine! Studying for 3 years and going to one of the world's top 100 famous universities for a master's program
Chung Hua University and the University of California, Irvine officially signed a sister school in 2019, and signed a 3+1+1 double degree cooperation program on July 22th. The main content of the 3+1+1 program in cooperation with UC Irvine is the joint training program of Master of Data Science and Master in Software Engineering. In the future, university students can take part of the credits for first three years at Chung Hua University, and go to UC Irvine to complete the remaining credits in the fourth year, then directly study at the graduate school of UC Irvine, or students can also choose to study at the graduate school of Northwestern University without TOEFL. After complete graduate study, students can obtain a master's degree from the University of California, Irvine or a master's degree from Northwestern University, which greatly reduces the time and cost of students studying in the United States.
Professor Erin Kong, the special assistant to the President of Chung Hua University, was the coordinator who facilitated the signing of the contract with UCI. She said that the two schools had signed a sister school agreement as early as 2019, and the two schools had always hoped for further cooperation opportunities. But since the beginning of this year, she has been actively communicating with UCI. After half a year of hard work, she finally completed this important cooperation plan.
Prof. Kong pointed out that the 3+1+1 dual-degree program between Chung Hua University and UCI mainly provides the opportunity for students from the Department of Engineering to study for a master's degree in the United States. As long as students study at Chung Hua University for first three years, and your GPA and TOEFL scores meet the requirements, then students will qualify to go to UCI in senior year. After completing the credit courses of the senior year, students can go directly to UCI or choose to study at Northwestern University (NU) for graduate school without TOEFL. It takes 5 years to obtain a bachelor's degree from Chung Hua University and a master's degree from UCI or NU, which greatly shortens the time and cost of studying in the United States.
Professor Kong emphasized that CHU's College of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering has passed IEET accreditation (also recognized by ABET), and the College of Management of Chung Hua University is an accredited member of AACSB International which is recognized by all universities in the United States and universities around the world under the Washington Convention, so credits can be admitted and count towards to anywhere in the world. Therefore, the 3+1+1 dual-degree program is not only for the students from Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, but also welcome for every student from Chu Hua University. Besides, the School of Management of Chung Hua University and San Francisco State University also have a 3+1+1 double degree cooperation program to choose from.
