The Department of Education held the 2026 Teacher Award ceremony today (the 22nd), where CHU President Dr.Victor Liu recommended by the Department of Higher Education, was honored with the prestigious award. The Teacher Award is an important honor given by the Dept. of Education to recognize outstanding teachers and education administrators. This award not only affirms President Liu's decades of outstanding contributions to higher education, but also highlights CHU's remarkable achievements in talent cultivation, educational innovation, and institutional governance.

President Liu has spent many years working across industry, government, and academia, applying management expertise to put educational ideals into practice. He has consistently upheld the educational belief that "everyone has their use" and core principles of "learning from the many," a "growth mindset," and "continuous renewal," encouraging students to explore their potential and develop lifelong learning abilities along with resilience to face future challenges. Speaking about the award, President Liu said the Teacher Award recognizes his many years of dedication to higher education administration, and that he will continue contributing to the development of higher education in Taiwan going forward.

During his tenure at CHU, President Liu has actively promoted institutional innovation and educational transformation. He was among the first to propose the concept of cultivating "π-shaped talent," encouraging students toward interdisciplinary learning and diverse development. He also led the nation in promoting AI experiential teaching, establishing an AI Experience Center and an AI teaching-assistant system, using digital technology to implement individualized instruction. In addition, he has long been devoted to character education, leading the university to be recognized for ten consecutive years in the Ministry of Education's "Northern Region 1 Character Education Model School Showcase and Commendation." In terms of talent cultivation outcomes, CHU has set "high-paying employment" as an institutional goal, and for eight consecutive years, more than half of its departments' graduates have had average starting salaries exceeding those of graduates in the same fields from private universities nationwide, demonstrating outstanding educational results.

Facing the challenges posed by the declining birthrate in higher education, President Victor Liu has guided the university toward sustainable development with a governance philosophy of "assessing external conditions while measuring one's own strength," successfully bringing about the innovative merger model between CHU and NTHU, setting a precedent for the transformation of private universities in Taiwan. President Liu noted that in recent years the university has achieved notable success in teaching excellence, AI education, and high-paying graduate employment, and has smoothly progressed toward the important milestone of merging with NTHU. He credited these achievements to the joint efforts of the entire faculty and staff, as well as the long-standing support and selfless dedication of the Board of Trustees.
