[May 03th 2024]Want to fulfill your dream of flying? CHU joins hands with Apex Aviation to cultivate aviation talent!
CHU recently signed a memorandum of industry-academia collaboration with Apex Aviation, the only flight training center in Taiwan. The two parties will effectively utilize and integrate aviation management research resources to enhance industry-academia research and development capabilities, promote the development of Taiwan's aviation industry technology, and cultivate Taiwan's future aviation talent!
CHU President Victor Liu stated that when he first became the president, having previously served as the chairperson of the Executive Yuan's Aviation Safety Council, students asked him if there were any pilot training classes or courses. However, at that time there were no aviation schools in Taiwan, depriving students of the opportunity to explore the aviation industry. Now, with Apex Aviation being Taiwan's only aviation school, cultivating many outstanding Taiwanese aviation talents, CHU must seize the opportunity to collaborate, combining the expertise from academia and industry to provide students with cross-disciplinary learning resources. This allows students to plan their careers early on and have broader choices and competitiveness in the workplace!
Apex Aviation Chairman Jianyu Gao stated that unlike countries like the United States and Australia, Taiwan does not have a single university with a professional department or program that allows people interested in the aviation industry to explore it. They have to wait until after graduating from university to have the opportunity, wasting a lot of precious time, which is really unfortunate! Therefore, in 2014, he founded Taiwan's first flight crew training institution, with the aim of pioneering the development of Taiwan's aviation industry and laying the foundation for talent cultivation early on. To date, the company has been in operation for ten years and has achieved some success in areas such as tourism, medical care, and transportation. The camps held every year are always fully booked, demonstrating Taiwanese people's passion and interest in aviation. He believes that with this collaboration with CHU, by integrating learning resources, talent cultivation, technology, and industry-academia cooperation, it will definitely inject more vitality into Taiwan's skies!

Dean Wen Pei of CHU's College of Management stated that in the future, the two parties plan to organize camps, courses, or internships with the aim of allowing students to get to know the aviation industry early on. For students interested in becoming pilots, dispatchers, or in management roles, they can set their goals from an early stage.
To date, Apex Aviation has cultivated hundreds of students who have gone on to work for airlines such as EVA Air, China Airlines, Mandarin Airlines, Tiger Air Taiwan, and STARLUX Airlines. In April 2022, it was approved to establish a general aviation business entity, introducing aerial sightseeing and high-altitude skydiving activities to enhance the diversity of domestic tourism in Taiwan. In January 2023, it provided medical transportation services to Kinmen, helping to alleviate the issue of insufficient medical resources in remote islands and striving to safeguard the health rights of island residents.
