The Rural Exploration Team, “Farmers, Must Encourage," formed by CHU’s Japanese Department and Applied Intelligence Program, held a 3-day summer festival last week in the nearby Jia Dong Community. They invited 80 Vietnamese students from the CHU’s Office of International Affairs to make red turtle cakes and explore the community together, experiencing Hakka culture.

Jia Community CEO Chen I-Lang thanked the CHU faculty and students for their long-term assistance in organizing various activities for the community. With the Rural Exploration Team winning the Council of Agriculture's Water Resources Agency project this time to be a resident in the community and assist in developing and transforming community affairs, he believes the community will benefit tremendously. He also hopes this opportunity allows more people to see the beauty of the Jia Dong Community.

Jia Dong Village leader Ms. Hsiu-Fen Kuo said that due to the community's proximity to CHU, there have been many opportunities for interaction and cooperation between the community and CHU's faculty and students over a long period. She is very grateful that the Rural Exploration Team was stationed in the community this time to organize various activities. She hopes more faculty and students from CHU can come together into the community to create goodness jointly.

The summer festival at Jia Dong Community featured a variety of enriching activities, including DIY red turtle cake making, escape room games, challenge games, yukata experiences, English/Japanese/Hakka/Taiwanese conversation lessons, EDM parties, and singing contests, allowing many students and visitors to have a great time and leave with deep impressions of the community
