The Hsinchu Lychee Festival kicked off recently, and the Xiangshan area's orchards are experiencing a bountiful harvest. Gu Xiufen, the friendly neighborhood leader from Qie Ping Village near CHU, extended a special invitation to int’l students from Japan, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and other countries. On this day (4th), they were invited to the lychee orchards in the nearby Xiangshan community to experience the joy of summer fruit picking.

The lychee orchard, where CHU’s int’l students were invited for fruit picking, is located at Senquan Farm on Qie Ping East Street. The orchard is filled with abundant and fruitful lychee trees. As the orchard allows visitors to pick and eat lychees to their heart's content, many foreign students eagerly grabbed scissors and began harvesting. They couldn't resist indulging in the fresh and sweet lychees, exclaiming, "So sweet and delicious!"

Hiroaki Fujimoto, a first-year student from Japan in the Department of Japanese Language, expressed that lychees in Japan are usually frozen and come at a high price. It was his first time trying fresh lychees in Taiwan, and he found the taste exceptionally sweet and delightful. Omar, a first-year graduate student from India majoring in Tourism and Hospitality, also praised the fresh sweetness of Taiwanese lychees and enjoyed the experience of picking and eating them directly from the orchard. Nguyen Thi Minh Sang, a second-year student from Vietnam studying Industrial Management, shared that it was her first time picking lychees, and she found it fun and enjoyable. Mei Yi Chung, a senior from Malaysia majoring in Tourism and Hospitality, appreciated the opportunity to pick lychees as it allowed her to understand the hard work of fruit farmers, making the activity meaningful to her.
