| The
Department of Foreign Languages and Literature
The Department of Foreign Languages and Literature is divided
into two programs: English Program and Japanese Program.
Both programs emphasize on basic four-skill training in
order to give the students a solid language-training foundation.
The design of the curriculum of the Department is based
on cultivation of the studentsˇ¦ interests and development
of their potential. Courses include applied writing courses,
translation projects, literary courses, advanced English/Japanese
oral presentation courses, and cultural studies. The Department
also encourages students to engage in extra-curricular activities
and participate in studentsˇ¦ activities on a global scale.

Department
of Administration & Management
In order
to follow government-mandated policy, the Department of
Administration
Management is committed to training students with professional abilities.
The Department is using the latest computer technology in planning,
executing, and evaluating public policies. In addition,
the Department is actively pursuing academic researches
in related fields in order to obtain a leading position
in this area.

Center
of General Education
As the university puts equal emphasis on professional and liberal arts education,
the Center of General Education is given the responsibility to promote the schoolˇ¦s
cultural capacity. Teaching guidelines for the center are based on the following principles:
ˇE Provide balanced education with diverse thinking patterns. ˇEGive students the ability to perform daily function. ˇECultivate college graduates with basic social knowledge.
Curriculum for general education is becoming more diverse, IT-driven and future-oriented.
It also covers Chinese, constitution and history. Extracurricular activities encourage
students to investigate local historical and cultural events and speeches.
The center aims to expand students beyond their expertise and promote balanced development
of cultural and technical sides of youths. Thus the Center actively encourages teachers to
pursue further education and teacher-student interaction in hopes of enhancing student vision
with regard to knowledge and thinking by extending beyond classroom education. The Center
will continue to build external partnership by participating in local arts and cultural
events as well organizing arts/cultural and technology campaigns. Internally, the Center
will enhance the diversity and practicality of programs as well as improve faculty quality
in hopes of introducing diverse knowledge to and enhance cultural level of university
students.

Center of
Teacher Education
In order
to provide an additional option for the students' career plans, starting
from fall semester 1996, Chung Hua University has been offering the
education courses, a part of middle-school teacher resource program.
Experts and scholars are invited to host speech and seminar
regularly. Focusing on both theory and application, the Center
provides various professional courses to cultivate excellent middle-school teachers.
